Sobhita Dhulipala, who has earned Best Actor (Female) nomination for Made in Heaven in the upcoming mid-day and Radio City Hitlist Web Awards, says appreciation was validation of her experimental choices.

When we get on a call with Sobhita Dhulipala, her response to bagging a nomination for her mature performance in Made in Heaven is refreshingly candid. "Each of these actresses have such a prolific body of work behind them. If I had to root for one of us, I am not certain [I would bet on] myself," she laughs.

Made in Heaven, created by Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti, tells the stories of two Delhi wedding planners who discover the underlying hypocrisy and patriarchy of society with each wedding. "When we started shooting, I simply trusted the makers and their merit. I knew quality and success aren't co-related [in movies]. But turns out, in the web world, they are. I picked the show for the right reasons; I am not the kind of actor who chooses projects for profits," states Dhulipala, who became the toast of showbiz after the runaway success of the series.
As she evolves from a lower middle-class girl to a South Delhi socialite, Tara Khanna — the character essayed by Dhulipala — is shrewd yet sensitive, wily yet vulnerable. The actor remembers being surprised at her character's graph. "I loved the flashback sequences of Tara; they gave context to her. In the show, she progresses from being the [guileless] young girl to a poised woman. But on the set, we shot in random order. One day, we would do episode seven, and on the next day, episode one. It taught me how to be present in the moment as an actor. I had to know the script like the back of my hand [to be consistent]. Since I had deeply imbibed Tara, I could layer her well."
The actor is awaiting the second season of the prestige drama as eagerly as viewers. "I am dying to read the script. I know we start shooting in a couple of months and it will release early next year."
